During my travels, I received free accommodation for a night in exchange for writing a daily travel diary. This diary documented how I reached my next destination, the hosts who welcomed me, the food I was offered, and other experiences along the way. Below, you will find the archives of these extensive reports. Please note that English is not my native language, and most entries were written quickly, often around midnight. Enjoy!

My following host, Luis Lopes, picked me up from Sandton City, a huge mall, where Colleen Oosthuizen had dropped me off this morning.

From Sandton, Johannesburg, Luis drove me to Centurion, a small town south of Pretoria.

But to help me with a lunch, he ordered one whole chicken at Nandos...

...one hamburger menu at Steers, drinks and chips at the supermarket...

...ten lottery tickets (draw December 5) and one big Pizza... I would not be hungry today.

Luis opens the gate to his plot in Centurion. At the background the handbuilt house of the Lopes family.

While Luis went back to his office, I spent my time at the plot walking around the house, enjoying the sun and having a little afternoon nap.

Around 6pm the family Lopes was complete. Here you see Dyllan and little Kevin playing outside.

And at the stables for the future horses Luis does his daily chicken feeding.

And the field was full of them. What was their name? Guineafells or something?

Centurion sundown... I am going to remember this one!

In the kitchen mother Moll heats up todays fast food and prepares a Greek salad for dinner.

Luis tried to (very long) to explain me how I can make my own vinegar. I already lost it when he started with - first you take...

Feel at home, Luis said. I did!

After dinner I offered the Lopes family the gift they got from the Oosthuizen family.

With utmost care Luis unwraps the little thingys.

It certainly was very special! Colleen Oosthuizen had given away a very personal present that goes back in time of her family. An original cups and saucers set made of China.

Kevin, ummm, is it not getting bed time for you?

With the reruns of Sundaynights eviction night on Big Brother television, Dyllan told me with pride how his father was sitting in the audience. Yeah sure, Luis had not told me a word about that. Where?

Oh... Okay.
